Along the River story

We are very excited to introduce a story for our prints Along the River!

Melbourne based writer Jon Williams produced a story to accompany our images.
Noriko Tabei, freelance writer, also based in Melbourne provided a Japanese translation.

This zine will be available for pick-up at Aesop Kawaramachi store in Kyoto, Japan from 18 April to 11 May while we are exhibiting a selection of our Along the River suite.

Zines will be available at Sticky Institute or contact us at mail@damonandkyoko.tk

Special thank-you to my lovely Irwin and McLaren bookbinders for letting me use the space!

Life Along the River

Our set of etchings called Along the River is going to Hong Kong for an exhibition titled Life Along the River from 6 to 30 March at Odd One Out and Aesop Hong Kong.

Life Along the River is our collaborative suite of 14 etchings and an accompanying zine. The prints and zine are based on Damon's drawings of the riverside architecture of Kyoto, Japan with artistic interventions by Kyoko.
The drawings were made during our research trip to Japan in 2011 and 2013.

There will be a permanent installation at Aesop Head office in Hong Kong too.
Permanent installation and selected prints from the suite will be at Aesop Head office in Hong Kong from 4 March.
Please join us see the installation with refreshments on 6 March, 6:30 - 8:30pm.

The complete suite of Along the River can be viewed at Odd One Out from 6 - 30 March.

We are relieved that the most labour intensive part of this project has completed, though there are still few things to do for the show such as making zines and signing over 250 prints.

Thank you Sunraysia Daily for covering our project!
Never mind the unfortunate placement of the scam article :p Looks like we made lots of money with our prints!

Arriving in Mildura

After almost 8 hours on train and bus, we finally arrived in the Art Vault in Mildura two days ago.

It is such a lovely place with great people, facility and much better weather than gray Melbourne.
It can be cold in the morning and at night, but otherwise it's a perfect blue sky with no clouds.
Everything we need is conveniently located all within walking distance.
There are lots of op shops around the town if we feel like shopping for nice cups and plates too.
Along the main street, there are many gum trees with huge trunk too that had been unfortunately chopped but still growing strong.
I got the feeling that people in Mildura really love their city.

It was so nice to meet our friend Anne Spudvilas who moved to Mildura from Melbourne, and also works at the Art Vault.

Since the arrival we've completed two editions - 12 more editions to go!

Our exhibition of this suite of works we are printing right now will be from 17 July at the Art Vault.
There will also be a zine of this suit of etchings available at the exhibition.

Talking of a chameleon exhibition

We are having an exhibition "Talking of a chameleon" opening this Saturday 5 May and runs until 30 May at Perimeter books.

Chameleons have long been known for their ability to change colour and transform.
In this suite of ten etchings and a zine we try to take that transformation one step further with a series of strange and wonderful animals.

"Talking of a chameleon", he said: "Its master put it down on a tartan rug and it died of overexertion."
Jean Cocteau, quoted by Liane de Pougy (1869-1950)

Space chameleon

We printed a new chameleon yesterday.

This print is an extra image in our chameleon series from our zine, "Talking of a chameleon".

This spaceship abduction of human print marks the end of our chameleon series.
Drawings of chameleons were done by Damon at Melbourne Museum, vandalised by Kyoko....
